What is a “certified” device?

Unified Communication as a Service (UCaaS) vendors (Ms teams, zoom to name a few) have partnership with device and other communication industry related manufacturers (Jabra, Poly, yealink , audioCodes SBC etc.,) and they certify their products (simple headsets, cameras, to complex core communication backend products like SBCs etc.,) with the vendor.

What is the advantage of the certified device?

A certified device will have huge advantage in the vendor platform - mostly it will be plug and play and you don’t have to worry about future version updates etc., plus the performance will be good (like noise cancellation etc.,)

if you are meeting for business purposes, it is highly recommended to use a “certified device” of the platform you use.

How can I check whether the device I buy is certified or not?

Sometimes, it will be available in the e-commerce website - but mostly it won’t be available.

Can’t I get the list from the vendor ?

yes - you can - but it will be off multiple tables and no common way to look at the data
